01 A Song at Twilight
Mon 4th Apr 1988, 15:00 on BBC Radio 4 FM
by Noël Coward
The comparative happiness that exists between Hugo Latymer, a grand old man of letters, and his wife Hilde, is disturbed by the surprise emergence from his past of an ex-mistress. The purpose of her visit turns out to be as shocking as it is dramatic and threatens to destroy their marriage.
In this, one of Coward's last plays, in which he made his farewell stage appearance in 1966, the Master's famous wit and observation of character are as sharp and entertaining as ever.
Director: David Johnston
Hugo Latymer: Michael Denison
Hilde Latymer: Jill Bennett
Carlotta: Dulcie Gray
Felix: Sean Barrett
